The Green Bay Packers (2-0) welcome the Kansas City Chiefs (1-1) to Lambeau Field for tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup.

The Chiefs and running back Jamaal Charles will look to rebound from last week’s heartbreaker with a win against a Green Bay team that has recently dominated at home. The Packers, meanwhile, are riding a 10-game home win streak and have arguably the NFL’s best quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. Between Rodgers and Charles, there is no shortage of star power to make this game enticing. Rather than break down the on-field performance, we are diving into the players’ production off the field and analyzing this Monday’s premier marketing matchup: Jamaal Charles vs. Aaron Rodgers.

The Breakdown

Jamaal Charles

A product of the University of Texas, Charles was drafted by the Chiefs in 2008 and saw very little action in his rookie year behind former All-Pro, Larry Johnson. His run of dominance officially began upon earning the starting role and rushing for over 1,100 yards the following year. Last November, he became the all-time rushing leader in Chiefs history. Due to his success on the field, Charles has not only become a star in Kansas City but is perennially billed as one of the top running backs in football (and fantasy).

Should the three-time All-Pro avoid injury, he will be poised to dent the NFL record books. His consistently electric play has helped him earn endorsement deals with many top brands, including Old Spice, Verizon and Pepsi. Charles has also teamed up with Tide, taking part in the #OurColors campaign, allowing Tide to spread its word to Jamaal’s almost 700 thousand Twitter followers.

Aaron Rodgers

After learning from one of the game’s greats in Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers came onto the scene in Green Bay with significant pressure on his shoulders. Rodgers quickly made it known that he was up to the challenge. Just three years into owning the starting job, Rodgers helped to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Green Bay.

Holding 30 franchise and 42 NFL records, Rodgers has placed himself firmly in the discussion as the best quarterback in football. Following the Super Bowl victory in the 2010-11 season, Rodgers and his championship-belt celebration caught the eye of State Farm. Since signing the Packers signal-caller, State Farm has created the Discount Double Check phenomenon and one of the most memorable athlete-brand partnerships in sports today. State Farm’s latest ad featuring Rodgers will be aired during tonight’s broadcast and can be viewed below.

Like many of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, Rodgers isn’t hurting for endorsement deals. He boasts a star-studded lineup of State Farm, Ford, Pizza Hut, and has recently added Adidas. With many years ahead of him, Aaron Rodgers has the opportunity to position himself as one of the top players on and off the field.
