About
Biography
My name is Asia Rave, I am a proud member of the Ho-Chunk Nation in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. My two Ho-Chunk names are Manakeepiiga and Hohaapjikereiga meaning takes care of the Earth and flash of light in the morning respectively. I am an education policy major with a certificate in American Indian studies. One day I hope to become a professor of Indigenous studies. I’m also a proud member of the UW-Madison Track & Field team as a women’s hammer thrower. I proudly support and recognize MMIW in North America. Native American women have been disproportionately affected by kidnappings, murders, and sexual crimes, hence Missing, Murdered Indigenous Women. Native American women are murdered at ten times the national average and is the 3rd leading cause of death for Indigenous Women. I perpetually advocate for justice of minority youth and breaking the structural social inequalities in schools, along with implementing climate friendly programs to mitigate the climate crisis.
