About
Biography
Emily is a member of Team USA’s Womens Wheelchair Basketball team heading to Paris 2024. This will be her first Paralympics. Emily was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma when she was 12 years old. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, she was a star basketball player and was devastated when she learned the surgery she had to endure would not allow her to play basketball again- so she thought. She was deemed cancer free 1 year later and has been in remission ever since. Little did she know, 3 short years later she would find wheelchair basketball and excel at a level she didn’t know was possible. She spent 4 years at the University of Illinois as a student-athlete and made her first National team in 2017. She has had great success competing around the world in Germany, Thailand, Brazil, Dubai with her most recent accomplishment in Chile winning the Gold Medal at the ParaPan American Games. When she is not training, she works at Abbott as a Logistics Planner.
