About

Biography

I’m Hannah Thornell, a senior women’s soccer goalkeeper at Cumberland University originally from Auckland, New Zealand. Over my four years of collegiate competition, I’ve been fortunate to help my team capture two conference championships and two district titles, while also earning national Player of the Week honors, First Team All-Conference, and Academic All-Conference recognition. I’m currently studying Exercise Science, with the goal of building a career that keeps me connected to the world of sports long after my playing days. Beyond the field, I enjoy staying active, baking, and watching all kinds of sport. At 17, I made the leap from New Zealand to the U.S. to pursue soccer, and along the way I’ve faced challenges that have pushed me to grow stronger both as an athlete and a person. I hope to use my journey to inspire others to overcome adversity and to be a positive role model for the next generation.
