Hi my name is Howard Shu - I am a dual-career Olympic badminton player and management consultant based out of Los Angeles, California. I have been playing badminton since I was 8 years old. As an Asian American athlete born and raised in the US, my parents gave my older brother and I every opportunity to participate in sports. Competing in a non-mainstream sport has been challenging but also gave me the opportunity to trail blaze and carve out my own path and journey. I attended UCLA as non-NCAA, full-time student and graduated with a Finance background. I ultimately reached my dream of becoming and Olympian and competed at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. I retired briefly and went on to work at one of the Big 4 as a consultant. But in 2018, the firm gave me the opportunity to work remote projects and I came back to the sport of badminton competing and working full-time.
