Hello Everyone, My name is Jelani Stafford. I am a full-time student athlete from Brownsville, Pa. I recently transferred to the University of Connecticut from Youngstown State University. I am now a Senior here at UConn and have 3 years of eligibility remaining. In my athletic career, I have been able to make life-long friends and spend time in the community, trying to benefit the youth that will come after me. While attending Youngstown State University, I extremely was active in the community volunteering with United Way- Youngstown Mahoning Valley. This gave me the opportunity to give back to the city of Youngstown and families in need. Youngstown has always been known for its steel production. After the steel industry saw a decline in the 1970’s, it left the communities throughout without any major industry to contribute to economic gain. Now at UConn, I plan to bring my personality, leadership, and care not only to this team, but to the great state of Connecticut.
