Biography
Jonas was born and raised in Bellingham, WA where he began paddling at age 12 as a member of the Bellingham Canoe Kayak Sprint Team. He has competed as a part of the US National Team since 2018. Over his time competing he has collected numerous US national titles. Most recently sweeping all three distances offered for the men’s open single kayak (MK1) at the last four US canoe sprint national championships (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). Most recently Jonas competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics and 2024 U23 World Championships. At both events he achieved historic results, placing 8th in the Men’s Double Kayak 500m in Paris and winning the U23 Men’s Single 1000m World Title. His result in Paris is the best American Men’s Kayak result in 24 years and Jonas is the first American U23 Canoe Sprint World Champion. When he’s not in the boat Jonas can be found studying Marine Biology and Chemistry at the University of Washington, cycling, skiing, backpacking, and above all enjoying the outdoors!
