High school rugby to D1 college rugby, talk about the dream come true! My name is Kalisi Po'oi, and I am apart of the D1 Women’s Rugby Program at Grand Canyon University. I am studying Health Care in achieving a Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration. Throughout my life I was told by many that women aren't supposed to play such a manly sport called rugby, I took that to the challenge and bought my first pair of cleats and a mouth guard. It became the best decision I ever made! Being able to make big tackles, run over opponents, and break game lines was something no one ever believed a woman like me can potentially fulfill in this sport. Being able to play at a college D1 level has taught me so much in finding ways to be encouraged in embracing our bodies and the potential we have in undertaking such an aggressive sport. Rugby holds a special place in my heart because this sport is designed for any women, big or small, fast or slow, you name it! I
