As a female who grew up in a male dominated sport (Brazilian Jiu-jitsu), I am a strong activist for female empowerment in a male dominate field in and out of sports. Coaching younger athletes is also important to me, as a way to give back to my community who supported me through my athletic journey. I am a strong believer that athletics can give many low-income students an opportunity to succeed at higher level education, with a lower financial burden. This is one of the reasons I find it important to mentor younger athletes, especially in areas where coaching is hard to come by. I plan to major in chemistry and minor in global health policy, with an interest in the U.S food supply/industry. “Clean” food or healthy eating is an interesting and important topic to me. I am always interested in learning about clean and healthy brands both in the realm of fuel and supplements, but also in sustainable brands.
