Keira D’Amato has created a buzz in the world of professional athletics by taking the road less traveled. If the normal trajectory for an elite female athlete is to focus on sport first, then get a “real” job, then have a family, D’Amato upended it: She married her high school sweetheart, had two children, started her career in real estate—and only then returned to running. She refuses to give in to the excuses of “too old” or “too busy as a parent,” instead pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a successful runner in today’s world. D'Amato broke the American Record in the Marathon (2:19:12) and recently broke the Half Marathon American Record running 1:06:39 in July 2023. D’Amato is the proud owner of PR Run & Walk by Keira D’Amato, a specialty running store in Richmond, Virginia, where she lives with her husband, Anthony, and her two children, Thomas and Quin. Her mission is to encourage others, especially mothers, to take their unfinished business off the back burner.
