I am a college athlete fighting through my third injury. People wonder why I don't give up after many injuries. They ask me why I'm so optimistic about the future. The answer: I'm wired not to give up, and positivity is in my DNA. Having spent most of my childhood homeless, I know what it's like to struggle daily. I grew up in an environment of gangs and violence. That violence took the life of my older brother. While I could have gone down a similar path, my older cousin, and big brother inspired me to play sports instead. Little did I know a three-mile walk to sign for Pop Warner would change everything. The coaches told me I had potential as I practiced on the field. One coach altered the course of my life by giving me a pair of leftover cleats and gear. At that moment, I knew what I was going to do. Today, I'm at Weber State. Moved my family in with me, and I am determined to continue pursuing my dream. Never give up and be there for the kids it takes 1 person to change a life
