Born and raised in New York as a first-generation American, Markus Edegran has always embraced the spirit of adventure, influenced by his Swedish father and South Korean mother. His journey began on the Hudson River, where he learned to sail alongside his older brother, cultivating a passion that would shape his life Markus competed in sailing throughout his college years, but it was his discovery of kiteboarding though his now Navy Fighter pilot brother that ignited a new ambition. In 2017, he proudly represented the USA in the Youth America's Cup and continued to compete on the World Match Racing Tour. Markus made the decision in 2019 to move to the Bay Area to fully commit to kitefoil racing. Since then, Markus has risen to prominence in the Formula Kite discipline, becoming Top American in 2020 and proudly representing the worldwide community of kiteboarders and all hydrofoiling athletes in its sports historic Olympic debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games!
