Hi! My name is Mya and I am a Sophomore on Arizona State University’s Women’s Soccer team. I am also Psychology student hoping to pursue a career in Child Development. Soccer is a big part of my life but in 2021, I unfortunately tore my ACL. I did my rehab, worked harder then ever before just to tear my other ACL shortly after. These two significant moments have taught me that I am more than just the game. I am Mya, an outgoing, passionate, and dedicated Black female. I have learned to have greater appreciation for other things in my life like the outdoors, my family and friends, and music! While I am just 18 years young, I have learned life lessons that will cary me to my future career. One of those life lessons being, hard work always pays off! That lesson is my Dad’s favorite and he is right. With that being one of the many lessons, I hope to share my story and support other future young, female athlete who are learning how to identify as more than just the game.
