I am a first-generation college student and student-athlete at Clemson University. Coming from a Cuban-Ukrainian family, Spanish was my first language. Clemson has provided me with the opportunity to grow athletically and academically. I started rowing in 9th grade because there was a team nearby. My mom told me that my great-grandfather rowed in Cuba, inspiring me to take the sport. I fell in love with the sport, and at the time, I had no idea that I could be given a chance to continue it past high school. Rowing has opened the doors to meet like-minded people and has taught me how to be a motivated student and athlete. I am a Pre-Business major. Besides rowing, I enjoy running and going to the beach and I have a passion for fashion. I also love cooking, particularly Eastern European and Cuban dishes. My culture is central to my identity, and I enjoy learning about others' backgrounds. Traveling allows me to explore diverse traditions, try new foods, and see fashion may vary.
