I’m a Freshman and short sprinter at Lamar University and Division 1 School in the Southland Conference. Some interesting things about me. I have dyslexia and dyscalculia. My first grade teacher made me walk the track because I couldn’t finish my work on time. I was lucky to be diagnosed early with my learning difficulties and worked hard to be remediated in reading, writing and arithmetics. I subsequently graduated from High School with a 3.3 GPA and got a 1050 on my SAT which scores exactly in the 50th percentile of all High School Students and by all accounts I’m remediated at peer level. Instead of walking the track as punishment, I run track on a scholarship. A second interesting fact about me is I’m Native American. I’m a registered tribal member of the Oglala, Lakota tribe located on the Pine Ridge Reservation. I’m passionate about encouraging others, being kind and showing empathy towards others.
