Sydney is a senior captain on the Duke Volleyball Team studying Statistics. As a recruited walk-on earning the captain role, she’s passionate about empowering student-athletes to own and share their own stories - she gets to do this as the Head of Public Relations and Editor for online publication UNCUT (uncutduke.com). Connecting her team and Duke Athletics with the community, she organized collaborative events with Gigi’s Playhouse, a non-profit in Raleigh aiming to change the way the world views Down Syndrome. She was recognized for this work, earning the ACC Top Six for Service award (2022). Outside of athletics, she has a strong interest in social justice through supporting small businesses, serving as the Director of Marketing for Karmalize.org, the world’s first crowdsourced directory of socially impactful businesses. In her free time, she loves to read, seek out new food in Durham, explore nature, and do yoga.
