Biography
My name is Tanessa Morris, but I usually go by Tess! I’m from a red angus beef ranch in the tiny town Patricia, Alberta. I did all sports growing up, including rodeo, and of course, hockey. But, I was drawn to figure skating and I competed for over 10 years at provincial and national levels. In my junior year of high school, my skating coaches told me I was too tall to make it much further in figure skating, but I knew I wasn’t done with sports yet. I joined a track club, intending to do multi events, but then I saw hammer throw and was instantly in love. I competed first at the University of Lethbridge, and after 2.5 years, I transferred to the University of Montana. In Montana I earned a BS in Geoscience and a BA in Anthropology with in Archaeology concentration. I decided to continue my athletic career at the University of Nebraska. I am working on my master’s degree in Natural Resource Sciences, focussed in Hydrological Science. I’m thrilled to be here in Nebraska and be a Husker!
