Hi! My name is Theresa Breckley, and I’m a second-year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Virginia. I was drawn to this field because it combines my love for helping others with my passion for innovation and hands-on problem solving. I’m currently working on technology to help increase independence for patients with ALS. Outside the classroom, I’m a shot put, discus, and hammer thrower on UVA’s Track and Field team, where I’ve learned discipline, time management, and the value of community. I grew up in a small town, inspired by my mother, a Mexican immigrant with a sense of responsibility for her community, whose compassion taught me to serve others. My faith is central to who I am, as a member of Catholic Hoos, I live by the belief that we’re called to love others as ourselves. I love hiking, reading, music, and the outdoors, and I’m drawn to brands rooted in faith, wellness, and community.
