Thomas Hess is a freshman on the VCU Men's Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Born in Baltimore, Maryland but hailing from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, he is happy to return to his DMV roots as a Ram. Over his high school career, he was a contributor to the Green Dragons PIAA Boys AA Championship team for three consecutive state titles; competed as the anchor leg on the 2021 4X800 PIAA Boys AAA State Championship Team which also ran at The Outdoor Nationals, Presented by Nike in Eugene, OR – June, 2021, earning All-American status; and earned numerous honors and recognitions in events spanning the 400m-1600m and relays. Thomas is also a vocal tenor and has sung in his high school chamber and concert choirs, and in his church youth praise band. He has a heart for coaching and has done so through community service activities, enjoys cooking, and has also worked as a laborer during the summers and breaks. A gritty runner who has a servants heart and also focuses on faith and family.
